Good Friends, Car Fires and Sweet Dreams

Anger Hangover and Lady Friend sponsored me last Saturday for my first Demolition Derby, and in the process there were many other NPR Junky firsts:

My first experience with a “modified” powerwheels

My first derby car/pit fire and preggo prostitot sighting

LF’s attempt to add some class to the whole derby experience

But sadly, friends, the best parts were not captured on film!  As the three of us (AH, LF and I) rolled up to our spot on the grass, I turned around and noticed some burly guys behind us unloading a LIVINGROOM COUCH from the bed of their pickup.  LF and I argued for a bit on whether or not this would have been their “porch” couch or their actual living room ensemble.  I said porch couch.  LF stated they were younger, and this was probably part of their living room furnishings.  I conceeded this victory to her, as she is older and wiser than I.  But not only did they have a couch!  They also had a beer pong table made out of two sawhorses and a door!  We were all too afraid of them to go over and take pictures, and I regret that to this day.

Once rained out, the three of us ladies made our way back to the Pigtown Palace where we proceeded to be charmed and saddened alike by Sweet Dreams: the Patsy Cline Story.

As always, the company of my bloggy rockstars and their lovely spouses couldn’t have been more welcome or more fun.

We were so happy to be there for your very first demolition derby experience. Fires, teen pregnancy, white trash pride, jorts (jean shorts), and feral children named D.J. See…dreams really do come true!!

We are SO THERE June 9 (the first of the DD dates that I’m not working). We don’t have a porch couch but we have a porch piano - should we bring that?

AH: They sure do! Hopefully by next time they’ll come up with a place to put my beer inside the portapotty.

D: I haven’t gone more than once, yet. Mostly it’s just an excuse for me to ogle AH and LF, and bask in their greatness.

YNL: We might need to find a few Bubba Lee’s to help move that bitch off the truck, baby. I’m not sure the DD is a real “porch piano” kinda gig, either ;-) Ask AH, though. She’s the resident queen of the Demo Derby.
